The Effect of Liver Massage in Cholangiohepatitis by Heavy Infestation with Liver-Fluke

Abstract
For these three years we have experienced 3 cases of cholangiohepatitis induced by heavy infestation
of liver fluke. Damages due to c.s. infestation are numerous, that is common bile duct obstruction,
cholangiohepatitis, stone formation, empyema of gall bladder, and biliary peritonitis etc.
Surgical complication of Clonorchis sinensis was rarely discussed in Korean literature.
As liver fluke encroaches the intrahepatic duct, complete or very effective evacuational method is
still not present.
In order to evacuate the intrahepatic clonorchis worms effectively, we performed liver massage in 3
cases after common duct exploration.
By Fung postoperative recurrence rate after cholecystectomy and T-tube insertion showed 41.4% but
with the vent of choledochoduodenostomy or sphicterotomy it decreased to 10% of recurrence.
In these case being compared with saline irrigatin and scoop removal for the intrehepatic duct liver
fluke, lever massage showed excellent emptying effect in 3 cases of heavy liver fluke infestation.
I think probably liver massage would play a great role in preventing recurrent symptoms by decre
asing remained liver fluke worms.
